A HID Global Case Study
Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia's largest and most iconic sporting venue, faced a significant challenge. Its outdated and failing access control system needed to be completely replaced and expanded to meet new security threats. The venue also needed a future-proof, open architecture solution that could seamlessly integrate its new access control with its existing surveillance and building management systems across its sprawling, complex infrastructure.
HID Global implemented its VertX IP access control solution, built on its open OPIN architecture and featuring the V1000 Network Controller. This networked approach allowed for seamless integration with Genetec Security Center software and enabled the venue to retain most of its existing cabling, resulting in enormous cost savings. The solution provided critical offline functionality, ensuring no data loss during network outages and granting the MCG the flexibility to use best-of-breed hardware and software. HID Global delivered a reliable, scalable, and fully integrated security system that met all of the customer's requirements.
