Kingdom of Bahrain joins ICAO PKD group of 180 countries with HID

The Kingdom of Bahrain, an island nation and financial hub in the Arabian Gulf, needed to modernize its travel identity infrastructure to provide its citizens with a more secure and efficient passport. The country's Ministry of Interior partnered with HID Global to upgrade its system to a modern ePassport, requiring a comprehensive solution for enrollment, personalization, and issuance.

HID Global implemented a robust, end-to-end ePassport solution featuring advanced security components like HID Mirage and HID SafeLink, alongside the HID Integrale software platform and HID SOMA chip operating system. The result for Bahrain was a more secure and efficient process for issuing passports. This new ePassport facilitates easier visa applications and enables the use of automated border control systems, allowing Bahraini citizens to pass through borders more quickly and securely. Additionally, joining the ICAO Public Key Directory expands global acceptance for the passport.
