Integrating EPC RFID Inventory Tracking in the Retail Warehouse

Large Retail Company, one of the world’s largest retail chains, struggled to accurately track pallets and warehouse locations across its distribution centers, leading to misidentified inventory, misplaced stock, out-of-stocks, and lost sales. HID Global supported the retailer’s effort to improve pallet tracking and inventory control with EPC RFID inventory tracking in its retail warehouse operations.

HID Global implemented an RFID-based workflow using passive RAIN RFID tags, readers, and antennas to automatically identify pallets and associate them with rack bin locations as they were put away. The HID EXO and IQ Label on-metal tags were key to making the system work reliably on metal racks, helping the retailer gain greater inventory visibility and control, recapture hours previously spent searching for missing inventory, and achieve a short-term ROI through reduced errors and improved warehouse efficiency.
