ID Cards Boost Efficiencies at Ryerson

Ryerson, a major distributor and processor of metal, needed a more efficient and cost-effective method for producing ID cards for time and attendance and employee safety. They previously purchased cards from an external vendor, which was expensive, slow, and led to a high rate of lost or damaged cards. Seeking to bring this process in-house to improve operational efficiency, they turned to HID Global.

HID Global provided a solution with the Fargo Persona C30 card printer and Build-A-Badge software. This allowed Ryerson to print high-quality cards on-demand with great simplicity. The results were significant, reducing the cost per card from as high as $14 to approximately 90 cents. The in-house system provided faster turnaround, enhanced safety features for plant evacuations, and improved payroll accuracy, supporting the company's rapid growth.
