A HID Global Case Study
FOVAHM, the Foundation of Valais in Favor of Mentally Handicapped Persons, needed a safe and efficient way to run its “La Romaine” laundry facility while enabling people with disabilities to work with limited supervision and maintain hotel-quality standards. The organization partnered with HID Global and HygieClean to improve linen traceability, automatically sort items, and identify both hotel linens and residents’ personal clothing.
HID Global’s RAIN UHF RFID solution, using LinTag™ UHF transponders embedded in textiles, was deployed across multiple workstations for tagging, sorting, and reassembly. The system automatically reads and sorts laundry by treatment type, reduces handling errors, and uniquely identifies each item by owner and garment details. FOVAHM’s facility now processes over 450 kg of laundry per day, with capacity to reach 1.2 tons, while saving hours through error-free inventory counts and creating a more stable, ergonomic workplace.
