A HID Global Case Study
Reykjavik University (RU) sought to build a new, key-free facility that would increase security and convenience while reducing costs. The university's vision was for a true multi-application smart card system that could also be extended for future use on public services. After extensive research, RU chose to partner with HID Global and transition from their existing HID PROX solution to the more advanced HID iCLASS platform.
HID Global implemented a solution using multi-technology iCLASS/Prox cards and readers, along with a FARGO HDP5000 card printer. This provided seamless access for 4,000 students to all buildings while integrating with lighting and room allocation systems to improve efficiency. The university achieved its goal of a nearly key-free environment, drastically reduced card losses by associating a value to the cards, and established a platform for future expansion. HID Global's technology helped make RU's ambitious vision for a secure, high-tech, and integrated campus a successful reality.
