A HID Global Case Study
George Mason University, a large public university, faced the challenge of replacing its outdated and vulnerable magstripe student ID card system. The university needed a more secure, cost-effective, and comprehensive "one card" solution that could handle campus access, payments, and services while allowing for a gradual migration from the old infrastructure. They partnered with HID Global to find a solution.
HID Global provided an end-to-end solution featuring Seos smart cards, multi-technology readers, and Asure ID personalization software. This allowed the university to issue new, secure cards that worked alongside the legacy system, drastically reducing card issuance time and replacement costs. The results included enhanced security, streamlined operations, and the foundation for future mobile credentials. The university issued over 12,000 new cards and installed approximately 3,500 new readers and locks as part of its multi-year migration plan.
