A HID Global Case Study
Gallaudet University, a unique institution serving deaf and hard of hearing students, was committed to implementing innovative technology to simplify student life. The challenge was to create a secure, convenient cashless payment system that could integrate with their existing HID proximity access control cards without requiring a major and costly overhaul of their point-of-sale infrastructure.
The solution implemented by HID and its partner ViVOtech leveraged the university's existing HID proximity cards and readers to enable cashless payments. This end-to-end system transformed the cards into multi-purpose instruments for access, registration, and purchases across campus. For Gallaudet, the results included increased efficiency with faster checkout times, enhanced security, and significant savings on data processing labor by eliminating the need to individually program magnetic stripes. HID's solution was easily implemented and later expanded to include faculty and staff.
