ASSA ABLOY, a global leader in access and security solutions, needed to secure its rapidly expanding IoT portfolio of smart locks, lock management systems, and connected readers while meeting strict cybersecurity and compliance requirements. Managing millions of connected devices and certificates, including many that operate offline, created major challenges around authentication, scalability, and regulatory readiness.

HID Global implemented HID PKI-as-a-Service with an offline Root Certificate Authority, automated certificate provisioning, and hierarchical key management to establish a strong root of trust across ASSA ABLOY’s IoT ecosystem. The solution reduced manual effort, improved operational efficiency, and strengthened security across the supply chain, while enabling ASSA ABLOY to manage more than one million certificates per year and prepare for future IoT standards and protocols.
