A HID Global Case Study
Southern Connecticut State University needed to upgrade its outdated paper ID system to a modern, durable, and secure multi-purpose card for its 12,000 students, faculty, and staff as part of a major campus renovation. This new Hoot Loot card was critical for improving campus security and needed to support a wide array of functions. The university chose to implement a solution from HID Global, utilizing their Fargo DTC550-LC Direct-to-Card Printer/Encoder.
The Fargo solution provided a fast, standalone network printer with two-sided printing, a built-in magnetic stripe encoder for legacy systems, and lamination for long-term durability, which significantly cut card production time. As a result, the Hoot Loot card now serves as a mandatory ID, a building access key, a library card, and a debit card for both on and off-campus purchases, greatly enhancing security, convenience, and personal safety for the entire campus community. HID Global's technology was integral to creating this comprehensive and secure campus identification system.
