Hipotekarna Banka Elevates Customer Experience with HID Digital Banking Solutions

Hipotekarna Banka, the second-largest bank in Montenegro, wanted to improve its digital banking experience with a mobile-first journey while meeting PSD2 Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) requirements. Its existing SMS OTP approach no longer met regulatory needs, so it turned to HID Global for a more secure and seamless authentication solution.

HID Global implemented the HID Authentication Platform, including HID Approve SDK, an Authentication Appliance, and OTP Hardware Token One, with support from Smartis. Completed in just six months, the project enabled faster push-based approvals, stronger 3D Secure protection for online shopping, and flexible authentication options for all customers, improving security and user experience while removing the need to manage multiple vendors.
