HID® Tenprint Scanner Modernizes Identity Verification and Criminal Booking for Brazilian Law Enforcement

The Civil Police of the State of São Paulo, Brazil’s largest state police force, needed a better way to handle criminal bookings and identity verification amid fragmented state systems, widespread identity fraud, and slow manual fingerprinting processes. The agency also had to modernize for biometric national ID compliance, and turned to HID Global’s tenprint scanner as part of the BioKit solution.

HID Global, working through partner Golden Distribuidora, implemented a biometric identification system that integrates with Brazil’s ABIS to capture fingerprints, match records, and enroll new identities quickly and accurately. The result was a major efficiency gain: booking time dropped from 4–5 days to minutes, the system is now deployed in 500 civil police stations, and the agency reported improved matching accuracy, more solved cases, and a steep reduction in identity fraud.
