The VA Financial Services Center, a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs organization, needed to implement a PIV-compliant access control solution for its new facility. As one of the first VA projects to fully leverage PIV cards for both physical and logical access, the center faced the challenge of validating credentials and integrating them with its security system. They engaged HID Global to address this need.

HID Global implemented its pivCLASS Registration Engine software to automate the process of registering and validating PIV card data with the facility's access control system. This solution provided secure, automated credential management, enabled efficient access for visitors from other VA stations, and implemented ongoing certificate revocation checks. The result is a secure environment where 300 employees use a single PIV card for both building and computer access, ensuring compliance with federal mandates.
