A HID Global Case Study
The Federal Aviation Administration needed a better way to validate PIV credentials at busy facilities where stationary card readers were unavailable. Under HSPD-12 and OMB requirements, visual checks were no longer enough, and the FAA wanted a mobile solution that could verify card authenticity, revocation status, and access rights. HID Global’s OMNICheck Plus software was selected to meet those needs.
HID Global implemented OMNICheck Plus with mobile DAP CE3240B devices and integration with the FAA’s P2000 access control system, enabling roaming guards to authenticate cards at checkpoints, parking garages, and other secure areas. The rollout took about five months and now uses 31 mobile readers. The result was full validation of digital certificates, revocation status, and access rights with an audit trail, plus cost savings from eliminating physical parking passes at two FAA facilities.
