HID Global RFID Cards Are Tapped to Play a Key Role in Brazil’s Secure, Reliable Water Delivery System for Citizens

Brazil's Federal Government faced a significant humanitarian and logistical challenge in delivering clean water to millions of citizens in its remote, semi-arid northeast region. This effort was hindered by immense operational costs, high levels of fraud where deliveries were hijacked, and a cumbersome paper-based entitlement system. The government sought a partner to create a secure, efficient, and automated delivery management system, leading them to work with technology provider TOMUS, which implemented a solution utilizing HID Global's RFID Secure Reader Module SE®.

The solution, built by TOMUS around HID Global's secure RFID technology, used a multi-factor authentication system installed in water trucks to verify delivery locations, drivers, and citizens. This drastically reduced fraud and streamlined operations. The measurable results for Brazil's Federal Government included a more than 25% reduction in operational costs, 99.86% delivery accuracy, and the secure facilitation of over 100,000 water deliveries each month across 800 cities. HID Global's robust technology was instrumental in creating a system that is now used by 97.3% of the federation’s Water Tank Truck Operations.
