HID Global Partners With Libya to Deliver First Diplomatic and Special ePassports

Libya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs needed to replace its manual diplomatic and special passport process with a secure, ICAO-compliant ePassport system that would improve travel convenience and document security. The challenge was compounded by the need for a redesigned booklet, a personalization chip, an end-to-end document management platform, and a tight four-month timeline during the COVID-19 pandemic.

HID Global implemented HID® Integrale™, covering pre-enrollment, biometric capture, personalization, issuance, inventory, and reporting, plus PKI services for ICAO compliance. The solution launched on schedule in December 2020, enabling Libya’s first electronic passport platform and delivering a secure ePassport with a polycarbonate datapage, RFID chip, and laser-engraved personalization, while remote training and support helped ensure a successful rollout.
