Visiontek, a world leader in connectivity products based in India, faced the challenge of combating $3 billion in annual fraud within the government's Public Distribution System. The challenge was exacerbated by the need to reliably identify citizens, including those in remote rural areas with poor connectivity, for subsidy distribution. Visiontek partnered with HID Global to address this.

The solution integrated HID Global's TouchChip fingerprint readers into Visiontek's rugged GL-11 Mobile POS terminals. This provided secure, rapid biometric authentication that worked reliably across various environmental conditions. The implementation resulted in $3 billion in annual fraud-related savings, achieved 99.9% accuracy in delivering subsidies to the right individuals, and saw close to one million terminals deployed across India.
