French Ministry of Finance Financial Application Utilizes HID Global’s Solutions to Identify Users for Secure ERP Access and Financial Reporting

The French Ministry of Finance faced the challenge of securely identifying users for its new centralized ERP system, which was designed to unify financial operations across 40 government departments. The ministry needed a strong authentication method for over 7,000 dispersed users that was both easy to adopt and minimized IT administrative overhead. To meet this need, they partnered with HID Global for an identity assurance solution.

HID Global implemented a smart card-based PKI solution using their Security Client software and smart card readers. This provided enhanced security through multi-factor authentication, ensured non-repudiation by keeping private keys on the card, and offered user simplicity with a familiar ATM-like interface. The solution successfully enabled secure access to the financial ERP system, linking multiple government ministries and consolidating the country's financial reporting and transactions.
