A HID Global Case Study
Francis Marion University, a state-affiliated institution, required a robust and efficient ID card program to support campus security and a wide variety of card-based services for its students and staff. The challenge was to find a cost-effective printing solution that could handle high-volume issuance, particularly during busy orientation periods, while also offering advanced security features for future needs. To address this, the university worked with HID Global and implemented the Fargo DTC400 Direct-to-Card Printer/Encoder.
The solution from HID Global provided faster printing speeds to efficiently produce cards during orientation crunches and offered a reasonable cost per card. The Fargo printer's technology, including the option for fluorescing ribbon, also provided enhanced security features for the university's evolving requirements. As a result, the ID card remains a central tool for public safety, building access, library services, and a debit card system, creating a secure and convenient campus experience while keeping accounting costs down.
