Chester Racecourse, the historic race venue in northern England, wanted to modernize race day while preserving its luxury experience and improving security, speed, and convenience. To move from traditional ticketing to e-ticketing, the racecourse partnered with HID Global and its Smart Event Solution to support secure access, reduce fraud, and add services beyond entry to the track.
HID Global implemented personalized smart tickets, physical and mobile RFID readers, mobile barcode scanners, and mobile wallet/app support to unify VIP, general admission, and staff access in one platform. The solution improved customer experience with seamless mobile ticketing and in-venue purchasing, while also giving Chester Racecourse real-time and post-event data on access patterns, ticket use, and unauthorized entry attempts to improve operations, security, and foot traffic flow.
