Container Centralen chooses HID tamper-evident RFID tags to secure horticulture logistics

Container Centralen, a horticulture logistics specialist managing a pool of returnable transport items across Europe, needed a better way to track trolleys and stop counterfeit tags from being copied. Its older red metal tags were expensive, had a design flaw that made them reusable if removed, and did not make RFID authenticity obvious by sight. Container Centralen worked with HID Global’s RAIN RFID tag solution to replace them.

HID Global, in partnership with Lyngsoe Systems, designed a custom tamper-evident RFID tag built for toughness, water resistance, and long-range reading. The new tag delivered 16-meter read range, cut replacement rates from 60,000 to 40,000 in 12 months, reduced unit cost to one-third of the old tag, and helped drive at least 30% fewer fake trolleys in the pool. It also sped up scanning by nearly 40% and was deployed in under six months.
