AWEX Protects Wool Bale Integrity and Traceability With HID RFID Tags

The Australian Wool Exchange Ltd (AWEX) faced challenges with wool bale traceability, data integrity, and logistical inefficiencies in its supply chain. Driven by biosecurity threats like foot-and-mouth disease, AWEX sought a digital system to improve tracking. They partnered with vendor HID Global to find a durable UHF RFID tag solution that could withstand the harsh conditions of the wool industry.

HID Global provided its customized IQ Pro Label RFID tags for the eBale program. This solution enabled unique identification for each bale, facilitating information transfer from farm to mill. As a result, AWEX committed to deploying five million tags, achieving the world's first nationwide introduction of RFID technology to wool packs. This has significantly improved traceability, efficiency, and accuracy across the entire supply chain.
