ASDA - Customer Case Study

ASDA, the second largest supermarket chain in the UK and part of the Wal-Mart family, faced the challenge of enhancing security across its 300 stores to better protect its employees and stock. They needed a new access control system that could integrate with their existing employee credentials to avoid the costly and disruptive process of re-badging. To address this, they worked with HID Global to implement a solution.

HID Global, through its partnership with distributor Norbain, provided ASDA with its multi-technology iCLASS R10 readers. This solution successfully read both the new iCLASS cards and the existing MIFARE credentials, eliminating the need for re-badging while offering advanced security features and future scalability. The implementation was a success, with ASDA's security manager reporting complete satisfaction. Following a successful trial, the company immediately expanded the system to an additional 34 stores.
