Biometric Module Delivers Rugged Reliability in Law Enforcement’s Harshest Environment

RuggON Corp, a manufacturer of rugged mobile computing solutions, faced a challenge with a national law enforcement agency customer. The agency needed to replace insecure and inefficient password logins on its RuggON PX501 tablets with a rugged, reliable biometric solution for secure device access in extreme field conditions. The solution from HID Global, their TouchChip TCET module, was required to perform accurately despite moisture, dust, and vibration.

HID Global provided the TouchChip TCET fingerprint module, which was integrated into the tablets. This solution delivered fast and secure authentication that worked reliably in harsh environments, streamlining officer logins and protecting sensitive data. The law enforcement agency reported high user satisfaction and improved operational efficiency. As a result of the successful deployment, HID Global's product helped the agency improve officer productivity and it is now being considered for additional secure workflow applications.
