A Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division Case Study
The City of Virginia Beach faced the challenge of managing more than 2,000 municipally owned parcels across 307 square miles with multiple departments maintaining paper-based, department-specific records. To modernize and unify its property management, the City of Virginia Beach engaged Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division and deployed GeoMedia Smart Client with Oracle Spatial to replace paper workflows and provide spatially enabled, role-based access to property data.
Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division implemented GeoMedia Smart Client on top of Oracle Spatial to deliver a single, web-accessible enterprise database with granular user permissions, configurable workflows, offline editing, and easy attachment of documents and photos. The solution produced measurable benefits: the city expects roughly six months of staff-time savings per year, higher data accuracy because departments enter their own updates, real-time access with no file transfers, and improved interdepartmental collaboration and maintenance planning.
