U. S. Marine Corps Improves Emergency Response System with Computer-Aided Dispatch

Marine Corps Systems Command faced critical gaps in its emergency response capabilities after the 2009 Fort Hood attack and was directed to implement E911 and modern dispatch systems. To meet that mandate, MCSC selected the Consolidated Emergency Response System (CERS) and partnered with Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division to deliver the Dispatch, Alert, and Reporting (DAR) components and related public-safety technology.

Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division implemented its computer-aided dispatch (CAD), records management, fire station alerting and mobile data solutions under a US$23 million IDIQ contract, including a systems integration lab and stringent cybersecurity certification to reach Milestone C. Deployed at 13 Marine Corps sites (three overseas), the solution tracks responders at the radio level, reduces response times, increases law enforcement and fire/rescue effectiveness, and enabled MCSC to be the first to meet the Secretary of Defense’s requirements.
