Toronto Police Service Integrates Location & Navigation Using Mobile CAD

Toronto Police Services, which protects Canada’s largest city, needed to replace its legacy CAD mobile system and continue evolving its emergency response capabilities with in-car mapping, AVL integration, real-time navigation and improved dispatching. After a long partnership, Toronto selected Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division to provide a modern mobile dispatch solution integrated with its existing CAD system.

Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division configured and deployed a mobile dispatch solution with integrated CAD mapping, automatic vehicle location (AVL), touchscreen/function-key interfaces and a language-skills search; the agencywide rollout installed mobile workstations in 500 vehicles and trained 1,800 officers in five months, on time and on budget. The system made officers immediately trackable at login, improved officer safety and dispatch efficiency, enabled visual routing and perimeter controls (used to contain a suspect two weeks after launch), and streamlined response operations with clear, measurable operational impact.
