Swiss Border Guard Improves Coordination, Response & Efficiency with Computer-Aided Dispatch

The Swiss Border Guard, Switzerland’s largest national civil security agency, faced rising challenges from counterfeit documents, drug and customs offenses, stolen vehicles and illegal immigration that demanded closer coordination and faster response across linguistic regions. To modernize command and incident management, the Swiss Border Guard selected an integrated suite of public safety solutions from Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division, including a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and incident command system.

Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division deployed the CAD and incident command system across four command centers (26 workstations, 100 users), integrating ~1,000 vehicle/personnel trackers, 2,000 radios and several hundred cameras to deliver a common operational picture; the system is expected to handle 50,000 events and 1 million data queries annually. The result is faster, better-informed decision-making, centralized resource management, reduced processing time and freed-up personnel for new operations, with plans to extend the solution across more departments to further boost Swiss Border Guard efficiency.
