A Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division Case Study
South Sound 911, an interlocal public-safety agency in Pierce County, Washington, formed to address chronic interoperability and communication gaps among local police, fire, and rescue agencies. To replace five fragmented PSAPs, outdated 911 phone systems and radios, the agency selected Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division to deploy a regional computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system and modernize radio and mobile communications.
Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division configured and phased the CAD rollout for 41 agencies, consolidated vendors and maintenance, and integrated mobile data terminals so responders can share live incident data. The implementation—part of a package that included nearly 4,600 new public-safety radios and a single consolidated dispatch center—improved cross-jurisdiction visibility, sped response coordination during major incidents, enabled field reporting, and delivered measurable operational and taxpayer efficiencies.
