A Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division Case Study
The Puyallup Police Department faced fragmented communications across Pierce County—slow information sharing, poor interoperability between agencies, and inefficient dispatching that hampered emergency response. To address this, regional leaders formed South Sound 911 and selected Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division to provide a regional computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system and upgrade 911 and radio infrastructure.
Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division implemented and configured a consolidated CAD system for 41 agencies, phased police-then-fire onboarding, consolidated five PSAPs, upgraded 700/800 MHz radio systems, and supported deployment of nearly 4,600 public safety radios. The result: faster, real-time data sharing and cross-jurisdictional situational awareness, more efficient operations (South Sound 911 now supports about 230 staff), improved field mobility and reporting, and measurable cost and resource efficiencies across participating agencies.
