A Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division Case Study
Slovnaft, a.s., the Bratislava-based petrochemical refinery that processes up to 6 million metric tonnes of crude oil annually, faced an outdated telecommunications inventory: its 25‑year‑old system digitally captured only about 40% of the network and much information remained on paper, creating risk during maintenance and emergencies. To modernize its network inventory, Slovnaft engaged Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division and chose HxGN NetWorks, Hexagon’s geospatial asset management system.
Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division delivered a phased rebuild—data modelling, standards, system installation, migration, validation and verification—producing a complete GIS of the passive telecom network with full tracing, fault analysis and lifecycle tools; Hexagon also implemented M.App Enterprise to monitor 3,000 fire extinguishers and map around 300 water sources. The new Hexagon solution gives Slovnaft a full network overview that speeds fault location and repairs, reduces downtime and costs, improves safety and enables controlled network expansion.
