A Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division Case Study
The National Center of Cartography (CNC) in Romania, responsible for the country’s geodetic and cartographic databases and a program to produce true orthophoto maps, DTMs/DSMs and 3D meshes for 320 cities, faced largely manual, time-consuming and error-prone photogrammetry workflows. To meet strict aerial-photogrammetry, quality-assurance and interoperability requirements, CNC engaged Intergraph Computer Services (ICS) Romania and Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division, deploying Hexagon technologies including M.App Enterprise, ERDAS APOLLO, ERDAS IMAGINE and LuciadFusion.
ICS Romania implemented the Integrated Cartography Data Management System built on Hexagon’s platforms, creating a centralized workspace for imagery providers, automated ERDAS-based processing and standardized validation. The solution automated 90% of verification reporting, reduced manual processes by 97% and cut processing/validation time by 80%, enabling automated processing of over 5,012 km² and management of more than 2.5 petabytes of data—results that lowered costs, sped approvals and accelerated project delivery with Hexagon’s Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division technologies at the core.
