A Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division Case Study
The Ministry of Lands & Physical Planning, via its Survey of Kenya agency, faced a time-consuming analog workflow for national mapping that struggled to manage terabytes of aerial photography, satellite imagery, LiDAR and vector data, had limited photogrammetry capacity, and relied on third parties for aero‑triangulation. To modernize operations they engaged Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division to provide digital photogrammetry and geospatial data management solutions, including ERDAS APOLLO and IMAGINE Photogrammetry tools.
Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division implemented ERDAS APOLLO for online cataloging, role‑based access and streamlined data delivery, and deployed IMAGINE Photogrammetry, AutoDTM, Terrain Editor, Stereo Analyst and other tools while partner Oakar Services installed the photogrammetry lab. The Ministry moved from six analog workstations to 32 digital units, supported over 50 photogrammetrists, brought aero‑triangulation in‑house, and achieved faster data capture, improved accuracy, higher productivity and quicker response times when managing national geospatial datasets.
