A Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division Case Study
CBMERJ, the Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro, faced the challenge of providing high-quality public safety during the 2016 Olympic Games amid limited resources and a huge influx of people. To meet this need they partnered with Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division, deploying industry-leading computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software and complementary solutions including major incident and event management, 3D mapping, Incident Analyzer/Smart M.App, and the S|Portal situational-awareness tools.
Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division implemented a scalable CAD system that supported CBMERJ’s 54 operational positions and more than 7,000 daily calls, programmed the entire Olympic event into its incident-management platform, and delivered detailed 3D venue models and web-based command tools. The technology enabled CBMERJ to plan and dynamically allocate resources for more than 2,500 employees and 76 advanced tactical units, speed decision-making and response, estimate staffing demand, and run spatial analyses (lines of sight, vehicle access) that improved operational efficiency and on-the-ground coordination.
