Irish Naval Service - Customer Case Study

The Irish Naval Service needed a modern, web-based way to enforce the EU Common Fisheries Policy across Ireland’s extensive waters — replacing an unsupported, heavily customised legacy setup that relied on three loosely coupled systems and manual reporting that could take days. To meet this challenge it worked with longtime partner IMGS and Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division, deploying Hexagon’s M.App Enterprise platform (with M.App Studio Workflow Manager) to provide real-time vessel tracking, reporting and analytics.

IMGS built a COTS solution on M.App Enterprise that consolidated the three systems into a single common operating picture accessible ashore and on patrol vessels, ingesting live VMS feeds and EU data, replicating information via satellite, and using low‑code workflows to cut development costs. The Hexagon solution delivered advanced querying, alarm tools and faster reporting, producing substantial time savings, reduced maintenance and administrative costs, streamlined workflows and improved enforcement capability for the Irish Naval Service.
