Improving Policing with Business Intelligence & Data Analytics

Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS), which serves more than 500,000 residents across 1,000 km², needed a better way to put real‑time incident and task‑specific data into the hands of officers in the field. To push computer‑aided dispatch (CAD) information to smartphones and tablets and enable officers to collect, share and access policing data on the go, HRPS deployed Hexagon’s mobile dispatch and response application from Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division.

Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division implemented a mobile dispatch and response solution that links officers directly to CAD and command‑center data, supports GPS or typed location updates, and lets officers communicate and update records without returning to patrol vehicles. The deployment reduced communication and data‑retrieval times, improved field operations and workflow efficiencies, increased officer safety, and gave HRPS a business‑intelligence capability with analysts and processes to measure operating efficiencies.
