A Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division Case Study
Sibelga, the sole gas and electricity distribution network for the Brussels region serving about 1.8 million residents with more than 1,000 employees, faced an obsolete GIS, rising maintenance costs, fragmented GIS and dispatch tools, and a need for end-to-end asset life‑cycle management. To modernize its systems and consolidate technical data, Sibelga selected Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division and its advanced utility GIS software (deployed as the internal “ATLAS” solution).
Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division implemented a unified database that integrates all graphical and alphanumeric asset data and provides real‑time access, network analysis, project management, meter integration and incident response. The ATLAS deployment improved data quality and timeliness, reduced maintenance overhead, created a single stable IT environment for technical data, and increased operational efficiency across departments; Sibelga is now expanding the solution to manage optical fiber and build a real‑time outage management foundation.
