A Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division Case Study
The Geological Survey of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia faced increasing landslide, subsidence and slope-instability risks across its mountainous territory and needed a continuous, easy-to-use system to collect, visualize and analyze ground-displacement data affecting buildings and transport infrastructure. Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division worked with partner Planetek Italia to deliver the Rheticus Safeland service, powered by Hexagon’s M.App Enterprise, to give the survey a practical, mobile-accessible monitoring tool.
Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division’s solution uses satellite RADAR interferometry and a 250 x 250 m cell grid to assign concern levels, produce synoptic maps and simplify complex analytics through an intuitive M.App Enterprise dashboard built by Planetek Italia. The deployment cut imagery processing time by more than 90%, lets the survey analyze all areas of interest in two days with quarterly updates instead of every 36 months, and reduced development effort and costs by about 70%, enabling faster, better-informed prioritization of mitigation and infrastructure decisions.
