Case Study: VGF (Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main) achieves faster, real-time incident response and improved passenger safety with Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division

A Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division Case Study

Preview of the VGF Case Study

Frankfurt’s transportation authority ensures effective incident response

VGF, Frankfurt’s public transportation operator responsible for nine underground and 10 tram lines and carrying more than 200 million passengers a year, needed to link threat detection directly to incident management and external emergency services to speed and improve responses. To do this it selected Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division and its computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system, together with Hexagon’s mobile dispatch app, to unite surveillance, SOS pillars and dispatching workflows.

Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division implemented an integrated CAD that connects 350 high‑end IP cameras, station SOS pillars (with live two‑way voice and 10‑second pre/post video), motion detection and a mobile app with NFC tagging for underground officer location. The solution lets dispatchers assess incidents faster, dispatch officers or first responders more quickly, and export operational video to police for investigation—improving real‑time safety and coordination across services and protecting millions of passengers every year.
