Preview of the El Paso County 911 District Case Study

El Paso County safeguards public with scalable dispatch capabilities

El Paso County 911 District, which answers more than 1.1 million calls a year for about 850,000 residents, needed a shared computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system to enable interoperability among one primary, one backup and 11 secondary PSAPs and 39 public safety agencies across an isolated region. To meet that challenge the district turned to Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division for a scalable, reliable CAD solution.

Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division implemented its CAD solution countywide, replacing siloed systems and spreadsheets with a single platform that shares incident information and situational awareness among 39 agencies (24 law enforcement, 10 fire, four EMS, plus the 911 district). Managed and funded by the El Paso County 911 District, the system proved its scalability during major events—scaling call-taking from 10 to 19 positions and increasing police dispatch pods from 8 to 12 with no system changes—while supporting coordinated responses to a 2019 mass-casualty incident and other large events.
