A Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division Case Study
Bell Canada, a leading Canadian telecommunications provider, faced growing delays and inefficiencies as it ramped up fiber buildouts: designers worked across disparate CAD tools, had to recreate as-built plans in the GIS, redraw networks for changes, and contend with weak integration to back-office systems like SAP and Assignment. To solve this, Bell partnered with Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division, extending its existing network model management software with Hexagon’s fiber optic infrastructure management solution.
Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division delivered automated Design Assist functionality and rule-driven design tools that use landbase and GPS-located structures to optimize paths, auto-allocate fiber and enforce engineering practices. The implementation improved data integrity and downstream integration, increased productivity for 550 concurrent users by automating critical design steps and reducing redundant data entry, cut design work by several hours, and shortened Bell’s fiber deployment cycle—enabling faster expansion into new service areas and quicker customer onboarding.
