Basel-Stadt Cantonal Police Uses Major Incident and Event Solution for UEFA Europa League Final

Basel-Stadt Cantonal Police faced the challenge of coordinating public safety for the 2016 UEFA Europa League final in Basel—an event that brought nearly 38,000 fans and required extensive personnel, equipment and complex planning. To manage this, Basel-Stadt Cantonal Police chose to upgrade its systems with major event management software from Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division.

Hexagon's solution—a scalable, browser-based major event management application—was fully implemented in under six months and provided scenario planning, action plans, checklists, interactive organizational charts and event clips to visualize infrastructure and personnel in real time. The deployment allowed round‑the‑clock operational monitoring during the event, drastically simplified personnel and unit planning, significantly decreased workload for operational management, and has since been extended to other agencies and planned processes; Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division’s modular system also integrates with existing dispatch tools.
