A Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division Case Study
Aurora Energy, the Tasmanian government–owned utility that operates an extensive electricity distribution network, faced a cumbersome Request to Access the Distribution System (RADs) workflow that relied on an external web form, email handoffs and unsupported Microsoft Access 97. To modernize workflows, improve visibility and reporting, Aurora selected Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division and its GeoMedia Smart Client platform to replace the legacy RADs system.
Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division implemented GeoMedia Smart Client to deliver configurable workflows, dynamic validated forms, queue-based access, web-based task management, automated email alerts, and per-step status, timestamps and project owners. The new RADs system reduced the potential for missing-data errors, greatly improved project visibility and collaboration across internal and external users, sped response for emergency requests, and enabled richer reporting and analytics for ongoing process improvement.
