Case Study: ATCO Electric achieves streamlined work order processing and accurate asset data with Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division

A Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division Case Study

Preview of the ATCO Electric Case Study

ATCO Electric in Alberta, Canada, integrates 2 systems to improve operations and enhance customer service

ATCO Electric, which delivers power to nearly 229,000 homes, farms and businesses across 242 communities and roughly 88,000 km of transmission and distribution lines in Alberta, faced delays and data-quality issues from maintaining two decades of disparate records in IBM Maximo (EAM) and HxGN NetWorks. To remove duplicate entry and give field crews timely, location-aware work information, ATCO partnered with Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division and implemented Hexagon’s commercial off-the-shelf integration framework (leveraging HxGN NetWorks and Oracle Integration Cloud middleware).

Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division delivered a bidirectional integration between Hexagon GIS/HxGN NetWorks and Maximo as part of ATCO’s WAM‑E program, synchronizing asset and geospatial records so work orders now include location and asset data and records entered in GIS are reflected in Maximo. The result was improved data accuracy after extensive cleansing, elimination of duplicate entry, faster planning and packaging of work orders for field crews, better maintenance planning and capital-justification analytics, and long-term alignment of location records across systems.
