A Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division Case Study
V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, a major Ukrainian university with over 20,000 students, faced limitations using open‑source remote‑sensing tools that were slow, unreliable and hard to teach from. Seeking a modern, functional solution with supportive institutional licensing, the university adopted ERDAS IMAGINE through Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division and its Education Program (coordinated locally by partner Softprom) to provide students with industry‑standard software for its Earth Remote Sensing course.
Hexagon's Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division implemented ERDAS IMAGINE and delivered limited student licenses and curricular support, replacing the previous workflow and improving the quality of teaching and student outcomes. Students gained practical skills—spectral enhancement, pansharpening, AOI cropping, K‑Means classification, point‑cloud processing—and a clearer competitive advantage on graduation, while Hexagon continued to provide access and support even during the Russia‑Ukraine war to ensure continuity of coursework.
