Wisconsin Public Service Improves Utility Restoration Using Outage Management System

Wisconsin Public Service (WPS), a large utility serving Wisconsin and Michigan, faced challenges in quickly responding to power outages due to an outdated system that delayed pinpointing trouble spots and providing information to crews and customers. To enhance customer service and decrease outage durations, WPS sought to upgrade its outage management system (OMS) and selected the latest OMS technology from Hexagon.

Hexagon implemented its OMS, which included a new fault location module and mobile technology, providing a centralized, real-time view of outages for both dispatchers and field crews. This solution allowed WPS to more accurately locate issues, assign resources efficiently, and provide customers with faster notifications via its app and website. The remote deployment was successful, resulting in reduced outage durations, improved repair efficiency, and greater customer trust and satisfaction.
