WEMAG Netz GmbH implements GIS mapping solution for authorities and customers

WEMAG Netz GmbH, an electrical utility serving northern Germany, faced a labor-intensive process for handling requests for underground cable and pipe location maps. Their manual system, managed via phone and writing, consumed significant employee hours. As part of a digital transformation, WEMAG partnered with vendor Hexagon to find a more efficient and cost-effective way to share this critical information with construction companies, authorities, and customers.

Hexagon implemented its HxGN NetWorks B4UDig I Portal, a web-based solution that automates the request and delivery of map data. This allowed WEMAG to provide instant, secure access to planning information online. The results were significant: 100% of requests are now handled through the portal, with 80% processed automatically. This led to major efficiency improvements, drastically reduced wait times and personnel costs, and provided external users with instant PDF downloads of the information they need.
