Walther Wolf - Customer Case Study

Walther Wolf, a German mold making and jobbing shop, sought to drastically reduce the lengthy set-up times and calibration periods for their high-precision parts manufacturing. To address this challenge, they implemented 3D Form Inspect software with the "Best Fit" module from vendor Hexagon.

Hexagon's solution used touch probes and the Best-Fit software to automatically measure a workpiece's exact position on the machine tool, allowing the machining program to be adjusted to the part. This eliminated manual positioning. The results were substantial, with set-up labor times more than halved and calibration times reduced from 3 hours to just 1.5 hours. This led to greater productivity, higher profitability, and a demonstrable improvement in manufacturing quality and repeatability.
