Vorwerk - Customer Case Study

Vorwerk Kunststofftechnik, a German manufacturer of high-quality vacuum cleaners, faced the challenge of optimizing its complex mould manufacturing process to improve cost-efficiency and achieve burr-free parts from the first sample. To address this, they partnered with vendor Hexagon to implement m&h touch probes and the 3D Form Inspect software on their machine tools for in-process measurement.

Hexagon's solution allowed Vorwerk's operators to check the contour accuracy of mould inserts and slides directly on the machining center. This enabled immediate assessment and intervention, drastically reducing the need for subsequent die spotting. The results were significant: a specific mould was burr-free on the very first attempt, die spotting was reduced by 70-80%, and production rejects fell from 7-8% to less than 1%, leading to substantially lower maintenance costs and higher productivity.
