VMC, an Italian manufacturer of precision valves and screw units for air compressors, sought to enhance the quality control process for its innovative products. The company needed a highly accurate and automated method to inspect the complex profiles of compressor screws, moving beyond its existing manual measuring machine to ensure dimensional characteristics and support a new venture into manufacturing complete screw units. To meet this challenge, VMC turned to vendor Hexagon for a metrology solution.

Hexagon provided a DEA GLOBAL coordinate measuring machine (CMM) equipped with a Leitz scanning sensor and specialized Curve Analyzer software. Their application engineers further developed this software package to automatically process hundreds of measurement points and generate detailed inspection reports, perfectly tailored to VMC's specific requirements. This solution from Hexagon allowed VMC to achieve rapid, effective, and dense sampling of screw units, guaranteeing the highest quality level for their customers and bringing a critical part of their production cycle in-house.
